Hey guys! Jocelyn here with another review, and I'm changing things up. This time, I'm delving into skincare territory!
So to be honest, before joining the Sune family (and receiving a crash course on skincare), I thought all I needed for my skin were a good cleanser, moisturizer, and sunscreen. Boy was I wrong. As much as those three products are important, there are other, more specialized skincare additions out there that should be a part of your daily skincare regimen. This includes a toner, serum, and night cream, and for some, also an eye cream and oil treatment. Wow, that's a lot!
To ease myself into this more complex skincare regimen, I decided to start out by adding just one new product to my routine- ElishaCoy's Skin Repairing Snail Essence. I know what you might be thinking. Snail??? Like as in those slimy, gooey things that crawl all over the plants in my backyard? You put THAT on your FACE??? Yes, yes, and yes. Yup, I'm surprised with myself for putting something that lists "snail extract" as one of its ingredients on my face, too.
My initial reaction when I was first introduced to this product was more of curiosity than anything else. I had never heard of snail extract as a skincare treatment before. So, as any other curious person would, I decided to try the Skin Repairing Snail Essence.
How I use it: Apply after cleanser and moisturizer (wait until moisturizer sufficiently soaks into skin then apply Skin Repairing Snail Essence on top).
First impression: If it weren't for the packaging and name of the product, I wouldn't have even known there was snail extract in it. The Skin Repairing Snail Essence has a really light, extremely smooth texture (not slimy or sticky like I thought it would be!). Adds extra moisture and makes your skin feel baby soft. The product also smells great! It doesn't have a strong scent, just a light, pleasant fragrance.
Benefits/purpose: The snail extract helps boost skin resilience, flexibility/elasticity, and its ability to retain moisture. Additionally, the Skin Repairing Snail Essence improves skin cell regeneration and creates a moisture barrier to protect the skin from the effects of the environment. This product also has whitening and wrinkle-reducing properties and contains Liposome and mushroom extracts, which help with keeping your skin clean and clear. All of ElishaCoy's products are 100% organic, so you don't have to worry about harsh chemicals, preservatives, or parabens.
In the end, I think this product is pretty cool. It's not too much to add to your current skincare regimen- after all it's just one product; but the benefits of ElishaCoy's Skin Repairing Snail Essence are definitely worth it in my opinion. You get so much purpose from this light, smooth product, and it feels great on your skin!

Converting to Asian beauty products? FOUNDATION VS. BB CREAM REVIEW
Hey everyone!
Ever thought of trying Asian skincare or beauty products? Well, I have... The thing is that I never actually followed through with trying any Asian products out of the 5 or so years I've been wearing makeup- until now!
If you're a regular Sune blog reader, you might be a little confused. Hasn't this entire blog been dedicated to Asian skincare and makeup reviews?? Yes! So, has Sune been lying to me about actually trying the reviewed products? No! Hi, my name is Jocelyn, and I am the new addition to the Sune family here in San Francisco. I confess- I've only ever used Western (American or European) beauty and skincare products my whole life until recently. It's not that I was disinterested in trying Asian products; I just never knew how to choose which products were right for me or where to purchase them. But now with a little (okay, A LOT of) help from Sune, I have all the information I need! So let's start with my first impressions of some products I've tried, shall we?
Makeup:
I've always been a die-hard fan of foundation. I used Revlon Colorstay for the past 2 years and thought I would never have to try another face makeup product ever again. I thought I was set! The one thing I didn't like about the foundation, though, was that sometimes you could tell I was wearing face makeup. No matter how well the shade matched my skin tone, something about the product looked, dare I say, cake-y. The last thing you want is to look cake-faced. After all, makeup is supposed to enhance your natural beauty and make you look naturally flawless, not like you slapped on a layer of product to give you a different face. And, oh boy, it was even worse when the weather was hot. Not to sound un-ladylike, but I'm human, and I sweat. I also go to school in Los Angeles, so imagine that hot SoCal heat beating on your face- of course you're gonna sweat! Not the best look when you have streaky makeup from sweating it all off.
Enter stage left: Missha's Perfect Cover BB Cream.
I was a little skeptical about trying BB cream. It's supposed to have lighter coverage than foundation, and I liked the medium to heavy coverage of my beloved foundation. Additionally, I tried a few Western drugstore BB creams, and was seriously disappointed with the payoff of those products. I decided to give the Missha product a try anyway, and I was well impressed! The Perfect Cover BB Cream does give less coverage than a foundation (more light coverage, but you can build layers to achieve medium coverage), but it still does even out your skin tone. I don't have much acne; my skin concerns only revolve around redness, some hyper-pigmentation/acne scars, and an uneven skin tone, so there isn't much need for a full coverage foundation.
I was surprised that a product with such a light consistency could work so well! I've been wearing this product for about 10 hours and counting- so far it hasn't budged, dulled, or changed color. Pretty good in my opinion/1
My first impression:
I have beige skin with yellow/golden undertones. I tried No. 23. At first application, the product seemed a little too light for my face. I was worried I had tried the wrong shade on my face and was about to go through my day with a pale face and neck while the rest of my skin was more tan. Luckily, that's what the product is supposed to be like during the first few minutes! After a bit, the BB cream oxidizes and magically matches your skin tone (it's so cool to watch).
Missha's Perfect Cover BB Cream has a dewy finish, making your face look fresh and natural, like you don't have any makeup on your face at all. At the end of the day, the product turns more matte. The product even smells good! It's not a strong smell either. It's a light scent, and definitely better than any chemical scents I've noticed from some Western makeup products. If you're worried about whether or not the scent can cause irritation, you shouldn't! I haven't noticed any irritation and don't even notice the scent on my skin anymore.
Extra benefits of Missha's Perfect Cover BB Cream? SPF 42 (42!! I used to have to apply SPF 15 as a base under my foundation every day. Such a hassle). Moisturizing. Wrinkle care. Dermatologist tested for safety. And for those of you who enjoy skin lightening products- whitening. Don't be frightened by the word "whitening," though. Your face won't be altered an entire shade lighter or anything; this product just brightens your face a bit to make it look fresher and more full of life.
Overall, I'm happy with this product! And for $30, I think it's a steal for this multipurpose BB cream. Definitely something I would recommend to my friends and anyone else in search of face makeup that doesn't cake on or look unnatural. So, in the honest opinion of a girl who has been a devout patron of Western beauty all her life... I think I'm converted :O

(REVIEW) Elishacoy Honey Murumuru Moisture Oil
(REVIEW) Elishacoy Honey Murumuru Moisture Oil
Don't know what's
up with my skin lately~ Probably hormones and not enough sleep ha...
Anyways~ Time to continue with my Elishacoy Reviews. Today I am going to talk
about and review Elishacoy's new Honey Murumuru Moisture Oil! Using oils for
massaging, moisturizing and SHINE has been REALLY REALLY trendy as of late.
Especially since "You who came from the stars" Jun Ji-Hyun is known for
her nearly perfect skin. At age 32, she still looks amazing especially since
she looks like she looks like she puts on very little makeup!
Has anyone else watched the drama lately?
I think drama's are one of the reasons (probably the main reason) why I don't
sleep. *OH CURSE YOU WI-FI/INTERWEB!!!* Also another reason why my skin has
gotten so bad lately. When I don't get enough sleep my pores definitely get
bigger, eye bags get darker and puffy and my blemishes are more definitely more
noticeable. But in spite of all my imperfections, I am still trying to achieve
perfect skin. I know, I'm contradicting.
So, let me tell you a little bit about massage, moisture oils. One of the
best ways to achieve that glowing, dew, healthy looking skin is with face oils!
You may question, "WHY would I want to put oil on
my face?" Well, I'll tell you some benefits:
-
anti-oxidants and vitamins absorb into the skin easier
-oils
smooth and soften the appearance of fine lines
- oils
penetrate deep into your skin (the epidermis; outer layer of your skin) and
maintains
moisture for a brighter more radiant appearance.
- facial
oils create a protective barrier over your skin and protects against harsh
external
factors, like pollution, environmental effects such as toxins and keeps skin
moist even after over cleansing.
- oils will not
cause breakouts. When absorbed to the skin, it will not feel sticky and will
not look
greasy but will make your face look dewy and healthy like you just woke up from
a nice sleep.
Now, onto
myself. I knew about oils a long time ago but i never dared to try them because
i have oily, combination skin with pores. Slathering oil over my oily skin? No
way was i ever going to try that!!! But what made me change my mind? Jun
Ji-Hyun is one of the reasons but I had always been curious.
A while back when I was walking around the mall with my friend who loves skin
care products decided to go to Bloomingdale. She, like me also loves Korean, Asian skin care. While walking around, we saw Bobbi Brown's Extra Face Oil. My
friend took a few drops and just put it on her face, OVER HER MAKEUP!!! (@___@
You should have seen my jaw opened face hahaha!!!) I was like, "what are
you doing??" She acted like it was nothing. I imagined her BB cream to go
crazy messy or come off but no...!!! Her face looked amazing~ Glowing~ and
dewy but not greasy! Enough was enough, i finally decided to try for myself
this "Face Oil" that has been going crazy popular.
So, this is what I picked up and there is no way would I ever regret it, I can
definitely tell you that. I love Elishacoy~ This is their Honey Murumuru Moisture Oil.
This is the packaging, (click for
bigger size) the bottle looks like a drop of honey and it looks like the color
of honey. This product is paraben free, mineral oil free and benzophenone free.
What the product says:
- contains origin plant; gives
skin intensive moisture to improve dryness
- makes skin feel moist while
giving it a protective layer
- contains manuka honey
(manuka honey helps treats wounds, infections, treats burns, reduces
inflammation and is really good for acne)
- contains 9 kinds of oil complexes
excellent in absorption
- coconut seed butter and rose
water- gives skin immediate luster
How to use: (Right from the box; After skin drip adequate amount in the hand and rub against then apply in the full face. I translated that to "After cleaning and toning, apply a small amount to hands, rub and then massage onto face." Sounds about right to me..)
Here's the texture.
The texture feels a little oily at
first (of course it does, duh it's oil) but then it becomes really SMOOTH and
not sticky. Really you have to try these for yourself to believe it. Even after
the
product completely dried, you can
see the shine! Not in a greasy way but in a really smooth way!
MY
BARE SKIN!!!! eek!!!!!! You can see my coarse pores and some
redness on my face.
|
An
"adequate" amount, this is about 4-5 drops. (oh right, if you have
combination, oily skin, use less just to try it out first to make sure you do
not break out from oil products)
|
After
"massaging onto face" you can see how much smoother my face
became, still some redness probably because of the massaging. But you can see
the sheen! the DEWINESS! Definitely working it terms of glow~ After the oil
completely dried, just like on my hands you can still see the shine, but not
too much, and the texture really isn't greasy or sticky.
|
Next step is to try it with
BB/ CC cream~!!!
I
chose Elishacoy's Always Perfect CC Cream, light coverage, for pores and
helps cools down the skin. I mixed the oil with this CC cream.
|
But first, here's a picture
with the massaged oil on the face, with just one layer of the CC cream.
Very
natural coverage like i don't have anything on, you can still see a little bit
of redness, but you can also see a very natural dewy shine to the skin. Very
healthy looking skin right? The application with the CC cream also feels
more smooth compared to normal.
|
And
here's the pic of my me WITH the oil in the CC cream. Definitely notice the
dewiness. Got a LOT of compliments and questions this day at work on how I
got my skin to look like this. haha ^___^V Seriously, this picture looks like
i just waxed my face. Please EXCUSE the dry lips.
|
Yes, please excuse the dry
lips with CC cover over. Since it was so dry, I decided on a little D.I.Y. I had
coffee, sugar packets, oil and a lip balm on me. All organic, mild products so
I was just thinking "why not?"
My
REALLY dry lips, really there is no emphasis on this. Just really dry...
|
Time
to mix~!!!
|
Mixture
to the lips, i let it sit there for a bit first because the sugar is a little
to big for scrubbing. I recommend white sugar more.. but this works too.
|
SOOOO after scrubbing and
exfoliating~!!! TAD-AH!!!
The before and after.. my horrible
dry lips to THIS!! I guess my little D.I.Y worked a bit.
So the final VERDICT of Elishacoy's
Murumuru Oil
Pros:
- dewy skin
- moisturizing
- non-sticky
- fast absorbent
- soothing smell
- smoothing to touch
- Great for acne
- Great for smoothing out fine lines
- Can use for dry parts of body (not
a massage body oil)
Con:
- May cause breakouts since it's oil
- I wish oil's were less expensive
- CANNOT USE ON HAIR(tried, did not
work out)
So if you want to have that shiny
dewy like skin texture that most Korean stars have. I really think that you
would love this oil. I would definitely recommend it for all skin types since
it works very well with dry skin and acne prone skin because of the
ingredients. This product also works well with sensitive skin type. Definitely
recommend it for dry skin types, especially during the winter when your skin
feels more dry.
Would i repurchase it, so far I have
only tried Argon Oil, Naruko's Rose hip Elixir Oil (Which I also really love)
but i definitely like Elishacoy's better. If I do not find a better one than
this then I would keep repurchasing Elishacoys Murumuru Oil.
I got mine HERE
http://www.mysune.com/Elishacoy-Honey-Murumuru-Moisture-Oil-p/4651432.htm
For $35 when they had their Mother's
Day Sale~
